Hey Reader,
Who are you going as for Halloween? If it's not slutty, I don't want to hear about it.
I'm roughly 3.5 hours late for my scheduled live painting Halloween video on Substack, but quite frankly, Substack is pretty lame. Maybe I'm wrong.
WHAT I WANT TO SAY:
If I could have one thing just magically be so in the world with the snap of my fingers and the wiggle of my nose, it would be that people could learn to have fun again.
That's it.
*boop* magic that shit into being.
However, it seems like most people want to live inside some sort of bitching paradigm. I'm not always immune to those sweet, sweet callings.
Complaining is sort of like any Olympic sport, where the more you practice, and the more supported you are in finding the negative, the better you can become at it. However, I'm not wildly consistent or athletic in that sort of addictive way, so I've been able to unlatch those pesky little hooks from my skin. It wasn't easy, it hurt. Looking back at my shit wasn't fun, and I had to apologize to people. Don't get me wrong, I dabbled pretty hard for a few years.
However, on the flip side of unknowingly being a prick is this magical ooey-gooey layer of reality, where you can watch it and not let it impact you, and I wonder how much complaining is actually just something else speaking. You know, like... fear. What a sassy bitch.
I'm lucky, my best friend is a gay man; we get all our sassy-bitching out in our safe space and return to the world rejuvenated. We're both actually 800 years old. Impressive Creatures 👀.
Anyway, I may or may not go live in a bit on Twitch. I really do think my Discord is way more fun, but I'm always kind of nervous doing anything stream/live-wise because I'm re-learning the internet*. People have warned me about creeps and assholes, yet I'm remarkably impressed by how few actually attempt anything. Don't get me wrong, they exist.
Let's leave it at: I just want people to smile a little--myself included.
xo,
Mel
PS tonight was supposed to be my Halloween and I already lost the costume competition.
Though on a bright side, this lighting has inspired me to join an underground poker tournament. I don't know how to play.
I love games like that. Not for winning, just fun.
And we'll see what happens out here. I may just paint and listen to music classic style. No onlookers invited. In fact, I bought this massive paintbrush today and I'm going to save it all for myself. It's all mine. My giant, ginger precious.
